Which wrist should you wear a medical alert bracelet on?
It's one of the questions we get most. The short answer: either wrist works. Responders check both.
Why many people choose the left
Most people are right-handed, so a bracelet on the left wrist gets less wear and is less likely to catch on things. It also sits where many people wear a watch, which makes it feel natural.
When the right wrist is better
- If you already wear a watch or fitness tracker on the left.
- If you're left-handed and want to protect the bracelet from daily knocks.
- If you have a fistula, IV line or other reason to keep one arm free, wear it on the other arm.
What matters more than the wrist
That you actually wear it, every day. A bracelet in a drawer can't help anyone. Pick a style you like, wear it on the wrist that feels comfortable, and leave it on.
